After fleeing from a stage show in the first movie, the illusionists (Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco and new face Lizzy Caplan who replaces Isla Fisher) known as the Four Horsemen find themselves in more trouble in Macau.
There a young tech executive played by Daniel Radcliffe has a job for the Four Horsemen. In the meantime, FBI agent Rhodes (Mark Ruffalo) still seeks for revenge and answers about the death of his father.
This sequel again has a couple of twist and nice illusions but it is lacking the speed and pace of the first movie. Also the direction of this movie was in my opinion not great. Not a fan of Jon M. Chu. Woody Harrelson still plays his part with a lot of fun and also plays his evil twin brother who appears in this movie. Sequels, not my cup of tea and this sequel can’t be compared with the first one. The first one was fresh and great salted popcorn fun, this one has the potential to be fun but could have been much better. Part 3 has been announced and Isla Fisher will return, while she did not appear in this sequel due to her pregnancy. Hopefully they will create some fresh and new illusions in the third movie. And with another director please.
2 out of 5 on our #SaltedPopcorn scale.
